Local Child in Hot Water with Family and FriendsMarquis Spas® and the Make-A-Wish Foundation® team up to grant the wish of local boy Eugene, Ore.—More than anything in the entire world, Jake wanted his very own hot tub. Courtesy of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, with help from Marquis Spas, and Cedar Works Spa and Home Décor of Eugene, Jake’s wish will be realized on Friday, September 8 at 2 p.m. at a wish party in the Eugene teen’s home. The 16-year-old is eligible for this wish because he has atrioventricular septal defect, a type of congenital heart defect. Cedar Works is one of the many Marquis Spas dealers across the country helping to make dreams come true for children with life-threatening medical conditions. Cedar Works’ contribution is part of the national In the Spirit of a Wish program, created by Marquis Spas to benefit Make-A-Wish chapters across the country. Serving as the preferred provider for Make-A-Wish hot tub wishes, Marquis Spas has helped grant over 200 wishes since 2000. “We are overjoyed to see how one child’s wish has inspired the creation of a dynamic national relationship,” said Andrew Asato, executive director of the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Oregon. “Thanks to incredible help from Marquis Spas and its dealers, children in our community and around the country will experience unforgettable moments of hope, strength, and joy.” In the Spirit of a Wish was inspired by the wish of a courageous young woman named Andrea. When the Make-A-Wish Foundation approached Marquis Spas about helping to grant Andrea’s wish, the company was more than eager to oblige. Marquis Spas provided a hot tub, complete with a gazebo to house Andrea’s new spa. The spa became a backyard gathering spot for Andrea and her family, and has inspired Marquis Spas to help with similar wishes nationwide. The Make-A-Wish Foundation® grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Born in 1980 when a group of caring individuals helped a young boy fulfill his dream of becoming a police officer, the Foundation is now the largest wish-granting charity in the world, with 69 chapters in the U.S. and its territories. With the help of generous donors and nearly 25,000 volunteers, the Make-A-Wish Foundation grants more than 12,500 wishes a year and has granted more than 141,000 wishes in the U.S. since inception. The local chapter serves children, ages 2 ½ through 17, just like Jake, living throughout Oregon and Clark County, Washington.
