Kimberly’s Wish Story

Kimberly, 15, Portland
Wish:
to have a shopping spree

The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Oregon granted 15-year-old Kimberly’s shopping spree wish at the Downtown Portland Macy’s in early December.  Arriving via limousine and greeted by Macy’s employees, Make-A-Wish volunteers and TV cameras on a red carpet, the SE Portland teen was visibly overwhelmed by the VIP treatment.

Kim, an acute lymphoblastic leukemia patient, and her sister Ashley were immediately invited to write letters to Santa for Macy’s Believe Campaign – which encourages everyone to inscribe their holiday wishes to Santa and send them from Macy’s Believe stations located at each store. (For every letter received, Macy’s is donating a dollar to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, up to $1 million).

Santa led Kim to Santaland for keepsake photos, and then presented her with a gift card and personal shopper to begin her shopping spree wish.

Kim visited several departments during her shopping spree, including THISIT (junior department), coats, shoes and formalwear.  The teen purchased a dress for Winter Formal, a black letter jacket, jeans, tops, shoes, and accessories – including a Coach handbag and wallet.  She also received a brief makeover at the Clinique counter before heading to lunch with her family and Make-A-Wish volunteers at Macaroni Grill.  The limo whisked her away with a smile from ear-to-ear and a trunk full of shopping bags.
