Wish: to meet my favorite celebrity Animal Control Officers

Rachel, age 11, of Battle Ground, experienced her wish-come-true to meet her heroes from the reality show, “Animal Precinct.” An animal fanatic, Rachel always has felt a sense of protection for her furry friends. On April 4, her wish became a reality when she traveled to New York City for ASPCA Day with the cast of Animal Planet’s “Animal Precinct.” Rachel is qualified for a wish from the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Oregon because she received a kidney transplant.

Beginning with a special limo ride to the Portland International Airport, Rachel, her parents, and brother Brian boarded a plane for New York City. For the first part of the wish, Rachel and her family were whisked away to the ASPCA headquarters via a limousine. There, she was thrilled to tour the office, observe the animal intake process at the hospital, help train one of the new puppies, as well as play with rescued puppies and kittens.

Later in the day, Rachel attended the ASPCA’s Go Orange for Animals Day. She was full of excitement as she and her family visited the pet-friendly event held in Union Square where she met the real-life animal cops from “Animal Precinct.” All of the show’s officers were in attendance, including Mark MacDonald, Kristi Adams, and Rachel’s favorite, Annemarie Lucas. The three television stars spent much of the afternoon talking, taking photographs and signing autographs with Rachel. She was even treated to a special ride in their patrol car!

“Her wish day was everything she hoped it would be,” recall Rachel’s parents, Alice and Bob, in a letter to the Foundation.

During the New York trip, Rachel and her family also visited the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Central Park, and the Central Park Zoo. Rachel’s smile was ear to ear as she rode the ferris wheel in Toys “R” Us, her favorite store. While Rachel loved what New York City had to offer, nothing topped the excitement of meeting her heroes from the cast of “Animal Precinct.”
