Timothy, 17, Bend
Wish:
to have a laptop computer

Timothy of Bend, Ore., knew right away what his wish would be. An avid music fan, Timothy loves to create music CDs for himself and his friends. With two of his siblings having moved away from home, Timothy also wanted a way to keep in touch with them. The 17-year-old’s ultimate wish came true when he was surprised with a laptop computer.

One unsuspecting evening, Timothy’s mother Rebecca invited him out to dinner with his four brothers. Timothy walked into the pizza parlor with minimal expectations. So, Timothy was shocked at the sight of his Make-A-Wish volunteers when they greeted him with balloons, banners, cake, and wrapped gifts. As they enjoyed pizza and his favorite peanut butter ice cream cake, Timothy was ecstatic for his wish-come-true. Not only did he receive a brand new laptop computer, but also computer accessories including a printer and iPod nano.

“He was so surprised, so thrilled,” said Carolyn, one of his wish granting volunteers, recalling the moment when Timothy first walked through the pizza parlor’s doors. “He couldn’t keep a smile from his face.”

Having dealt with a heart condition called truncus arteriosus throughout his childhood, Timothy’s wish brought much-needed joy into his young life. When the evening came to an end, Timothy brought home his brand new laptop computer as well as happy memories.
