Landon’s Wish Story

Landon, 11, Battle Ground
Wish: to go on an Alaska fishing trip

Landon has osteosarcoma, the most common type of bone cancer. When he wished to go with his family on an Alaskan fishing trip, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Oregon made sure the opportunity didn’t get away.
In the summer of 2006, the 11-year-old fishing enthusiast from Battle Ground, Washington, flew with his parents and two of his brothers to Anchorage. Along the way, he received V.I.P. treatment and got to meet the pilot in the cockpit.

The magical experience continued when the family arrived at a rustic cabin in Soldotna on the Kenai Peninsula for two days of salmon fishing. Landon landed a 46.5-pound king salmon all by himself! Next, the guides took the group out to Cook Inlet, where they fished the open waters for halibut. The entire family flew home with a lifetime of fish stories and memories.
