Student Spotlight Vancouver’s Skyview High SchoolSkyview Students Grant Two Wishes Thirteen contestants. Two student coordinators. One (very patient!) advisor. Two wishes granted! The Mr/Ms Skyview Pageant exceeded it’s goal to raise $12,000 at this year’s event. Every year, the Associated Student Body (ASB) officers at Vancouver’s Skyview High School hold a mock beauty/talent pageant to raise money for Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Oregon. Each of this year’s 13 contestants competed to see who could raise the most money, with the victor being crowned at the event on April 23. The suspense and laughter grew throughout the evening, as contestants worked to collect last-minute donations during intermission of the spirited event. “Competing” in talent and beachwear categories, as well as Storm Spirit Wear and a variety of dance numbers, student contestants displayed their school spirit and showed a true passion for the mission of Make-A-Wish. In the end, Ian Cunningham was crowned Mr. Skyview by the event’s Senior Coordinator, Kayley Christensen. Skyview High School’s pageant is a stellar example of a successful Kids for Wish Kids® program. Over the eight years of this event, students have raised more than $140,000 for the Foundation. Many thanks to all involved, especially to the students who competed, both for the money raised and for introducing their supporters to Make-A-Wish. 2010 Contestants: Find out how you, or a student you know, can host a Kids For Wish Kids event by calling Event Coordinator Bri Davey at 503-292-2280, ext. 22, or emailing .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
