Past Events: Miles For Smiles

Thank you to the hundreds of people who called KATU Channel 2 on Sept. 18 to donate your frequent flier miles. About 75% of wishes are travel-related, and those miles will help give flight to wish kids in Oregon and SW Washington.

Miles For Smiles update:
Miles from Alaska Airlines: 3,113,924 (100% stays for local kids!)
Miles from other airlines: 4,807,904
Total miles donated: 7,921,828 and counting!

The day was filled with lots of activity as volunteers from Alaska Airlines and the Make-A-Wish Foundation answered phones that were ringing non-stop!  Wish kids Kennedy, Gabriel, Griffin, Kaden and Stephanie stopped by with their families to share their travel wish stories on the air with our Miles For Smiles host Debora Knapp and the AM Northwest and KATU news crews.  And, live shots at PDX highlighted the “Spirit of Make-A-Wish” aircraft that Alaska and Disney launched in 2006.

We are grateful of the partnership with Alaska Airlines, KATU and PortlandWaterfront.com that made this miles promotion a record-breaking success!

You can still donate your Alaska Airlines miles online to local travel wishes.
