Ashley’s Wish Story Ashley, 14, Wilsonville Fourteen-year-old Ashley was very specific about her wish request: pink laptop computer, pink case, petite enough to carry, a Microsoft Word program to write and preserve her music pieces, and a wireless card to connect with friends anywhere. It’s amazing that the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Oregon could actually go beyond Ashley’s wish expectations. Ashley is a kidney transplant recipient, who underwent surgery in the Spring to receive her mother’s kidney. During Ashley’s recovery, this music enthusiast kept thinking about the possibility of her wish-come-true and the new laptop that would soon be her very own. On the day Ashley’s wish was granted, this Wilsonville teen was joined by family, friends and Make-A-Wish volunteers for a party at Fuddruckers, complete with food, decorations, cake and a karaoke machine! She knew, of course, that she would receive a laptop, but she was surprised to find that her wish also included special music composition software and a musical keyboard that works directly with her computer to compose as she plays. The laptop also came with an integrated web camera and an external hard drive – pink of course! Ashley’s family says she “wouldn’t change a thing” about her wish, and they are extremely thankful for making Ashley feel so special in going above and beyond her expectations.
