The Biggest Little Fan

Katelin’s wish was to be a character on the Disney® show “Kim Possible.” She had an amazing wish experience where she played herself, “Kim Possible’s biggest fan Katelin,” and voice-tracked three lines for the show, which will air in June.

The highlight of the wish was meeting Christy Carlson Romano (voice of Kim Possible) and Will Friedle (voice of Ron Stoppable) who gave her a stuffed “Rufus” (the naked mole rat), which is now Katelin’s prized possession.  Katelin was treated like a star the entire time she was in Hollywood and also enjoyed going to Universal Studios and Disneyland® Resort as a part of her wish experience.

Katelin, who is from Beaverton, is a very outgoing child that absolutely loves the show “Kim Possible.” She can sing the theme song word-for-word and knows every episode.  She is a huge fan of the characters and said they were even nicer in person than she expected.  This mature eight-year-old has such a wonderful spirit and gladly articulates how grateful she is for her wish-come-true experience.

Katelin’s wish was made possible by Disney® and was adopted by Jewelers for Children.  She shared her wish experience with the Jewelers Association at its annual meeting and – adding to her wish experience – the members gave Katelin a locket to wear around her neck!

Volunteer to Help Make Wishes Come True!

This week is National Volunteer Appreciation Week, and we want to take a moment to thank all the volunteers that help bring smiles to children’s faces around Oregon and Southwest Washington each day.

If you are interested in joining the magic of making wishes come true, there are several ways to get involved as a volunteer: become a wish granter, help with fundraising or assist as a wish consultant.

Wish Granters – Work in teams to help facilitate the wish process from beginning to completion. Meet directly with wish children to ascertain a wish, coordinate with staff to plan the wish, and seek in-kind goods and services.

Fundraising – Chair and/or participate in a planning committee, or help out at special events.

Wish Consultants – Work behind-the-scenes at the chapter office to keep operations running. Administrative volunteers are asked to commit to a regular weekly shift. Duties may include mailings, computer work and other office projects.

To begin the volunteer process, please fill out our online volunteer interest form. For more information, contact Volunteer Coordinator Kara Montee at (800) 934-WISH, ext. 26 or .

Make a Million Campaign Raises 50% More Than Last Year

The Make a Million for Make-A-Wish® campaign, presented by Spirit Mountain Casino, was a success this year thanks to hundreds of people throughout Oregon and Clark County, Washington!  With donations still trickling in from the March fundraiser, our current fundraising total is $153,803.29 – that’s more than a 50 percent growth from last year’s efforts.  In addition, we were able to raise more than 316,468 Alaska Airlines miles for children’s destination wishes.

A big thank you goes out to all of our sponsors, media partners, schools, businesses and individuals that helped make this important financial stride towards granting more wishes to children in our communities.

Campaign contributions are still being accepted at any U.S. Bank or by calling the office at 800-934-WISH.
